Great to see the crowds back in force today. There was a SOLID queue of holidaymakers from the Welcome Inn to the sea front earlier today.
It's been on the humid side but we've lost that cold wind which was hanging on yesterday.
An ice cream on the beach? Sounds like a great idea!

There was a difference of opinion today between the Met Orifice and the local Skegness Weather station at skegnessweather.info.
I have the MO's app on my phone and it forecast today's top temperature at 24 degrees, which my phone app confirmed. Meanwhile skegnessweather.info gave a more realistic 29.8 degrees. That's 30 degrees as near as dammit.
Tomorrow the MO are forecasting the hottest day of the year so far at 28 degrees for this area !!!
I hope everybody has plenty of sunblock.

Well, it's 28 degrees in the shade here and it's going to get hotter. We have the deepest blue skies you've ever seen and we're heading for the beach. If the forecast holds up it's going to be the same tomorrow.

Yes, definatley a little cooler today. Even the wind was warm yesterday. Not had any need to switch the fans on today - yet.

Did anybody else see the funnel clouds around 5pm this evening? Just prior to the storm coming through there were some rather interesting cloud formations roughly in the direction of Burgh and we could clearly see rotating spirals of cloud coming down from the skies.

Yes, I noticed these clouds as well. We were on our way to Lincoln, and as I was the passenger I was able to look out at what looked like a tornado swirling around in the general direction of Lincoln.
I did not know they were 'funnel clouds' though. All I could see was this twirling cloud coming down out of the other clouds right down to the horizen.

I take a keen interest in meteorology (even though I can hardly say the word ) as it relates to our hobby. I am far from being an expert but I think I am correct in saying that a funnel cloud is a tornado which has not reached the ground. Technically though, it is not really classified as a tornado until it has touched down, but it was fascinating to see. Just wish I'd had my camera.

Funnel clouds can be considered weak tornadoes that do not have a visible portion reaching the ground. Presumably, all tornadoes go though a funnel cloud stage before reaching the ground.
Some destructive tornadoes may only look like a funnel cloud if the air is unusually dry, preventing the formation of cloud material all the way to the ground. But more commonly, the tornadic circulation is too weak to support a well developed condensation funnel.
Nevertheless, in virtually all true funnel cloud situations, there will be a circulation of air reaching from the visible funnel all the way to the ground -- it just can be seen. Low clouds associated with thunderstorms are often mistaken for funnel clouds, and the National Weather Service makes a special effort to train storm spotters to be able to tell the difference.
