After we first saw this new rather stylish looking shop front at the North End of town, right next to the Beijing Garden restaurant, we assumed it was some kind of night club or conference venue. We drove past today and noticed tables and chairs outside, plus a 'specials' board, so curiosity got the better of us.
We were right about the conference venue bit, but this is in fact a church! It also houses a cavernous cafe/snack bar which also serves some cooked food. We noticed lasagne was on offer today. There were also cream teas, toasties, jacket potatoes and cakes all at quite low prices. I'd better stop the promotion otherwise somebody will think we have shares in the place (we haven't btw!).
Naturally, their coffee had to be sampled. We agreed their latte was definitely one of the best in town, if not the best. They also do a range of speciality teas and cafetiere coffees.
We were VERY impressed by this place and will definitely be returning. We are not religious and nothing of that nature was forced upon us. We simply enjoyed a fantastic coffee in very pleasant and comfortable surroundings.

Sounds interesting.... a bit like a new "His Place" that used to be on High St. Mum used to take me there sometimes after school. ( Was the first place I saw a microwave.)
Careful though, not to go too many time you may catch religion

Yes, that does worry me a little
I am not religious and have dim views on certain aspects of religion, like most people I'm sure. I will just enjoy the coffee and then make a run for it! As long as they don't force anything upon us we won't mind.
Seriously, it was a very welcoming place and it did not feel like a religious establishment at all.
Although I have never been in "His Place", I have seen inside it and have had it described to me by a friend who used to frequent it (it's still there btw) and I wouldn't say there is any similarity between the two. The storehouse is much more up-market. In fact it feels like a very large Caffe Nero: Soft sofas; etc. and a few furnishings which would not be out of place in a church, but it's not not in your face at all.
Those prices were very impressive and I am sure they will be their biggest selling point for most people.
I would love to hear some more opinions from others.

I believe there is a theatre in the back of this place as well.
It does look very nice and I hope that they make it a success. I keep meaning to pop in but often laziness gets the better of me and I end up at a coffee house in town instead! But as a religious (although some would argue more 'spiritual') person myself I will be interested to see it when I finally make it up there.

Ah this place has been on the cards for a while now, glad to hear its opened.
This was the old Street Wars building if I'm right in thinking?

Due to it being close to where I live I often use the storehouse, its a great cup of coffee and for £1.50 you get coffee and a toasted tea cake or scone. they have a reward card which they will stamp every time you buy a cup of coffee and every time you buy 6 coffees you will get one free.
I love the seating arrangements, plenty of comfy corners to relax in. The staff are very friendly and even though the organisation behind it is a church you never get religion pushed down your throat.
They are trying to build a community hub in the building with a soft play area for the kids and modern hairdressing saloon.
Eventually they will have two auditoriums in the back of the coffee shop area, one already in use that holds over 100 and which they use for Sunday services, The other will hold over 1000 and they hope to hold national conferences in it.

Well I hope it goes well for them. Are they going to be advertising at all? They'll need to if they want to attract tourists.

Everytime I walk past this new establishment it always looks very busy inside, so I doubt they need to actually advertise and will simply rely on 'word-of-mouth' and recommendations.
