Inspired by the women who stand in Lumley Road like statues - which I think is quite a nice thing to have in the high street - I thought I would ask people what they think would be really cool to have in Skegness as street entertainment...?
I think it would be good to see an area roped off every Friday or Saturday maybe, for a different entertainer to perform. Maybe a unicyclist, fire-breather, something like that. A bit like you get in places like Covent Garden. Not sure where it would be, but I just think it would be a good addition to the town centre.

I agree with what has been said, I we want people to return to our high streets they have got to be more vibrant and areas of entertainment. I think the living statues add alot to Lumley Road and I would like to see more good buskers down there too.
Another idea that some places are using is the use of projectors to create interactive floor and wall displays

Was nice to begin with, but there are too many people doing it now. Its kind of lost its appeal.

"Too many"? There are two females, one more regular than the other, and very occasionaly one male. I'd hardly call that "too many"

She wearing jeans a t-shirt under it and the clothes and she doesn't stand still for hours ?
The other week some nasty person put a peg on her wing, I strolled over to her she smiled up at me and I took it off ... I must be the only person in Skeg that she has to look up at LOL

I think probably Martyn meant generally rather than just at Skegness, I havn't seen the ones in Skegness but have seen them in a lot of towns and City,s over the years, the first one or two I saw i thought were great, the first one really made me jump when he suddenly moved as really looked like a statue , but as I said I have seen a lot of them over the years and now I simply don't find them entertaining anymore, I would even go as far as to say I now find them boring.
However I do agree with the earlier comments, I do love street entertainment and think it would be great for Skegness, but just something different please

what you have to be careful is that the street entertainers add something, Derby (and some other places) actually audition them and then give them a performance licence if they are good enough. we have opera singers, string quartets, south american indians, bands all sorts. We used to end up with students busking and some poor jugglers

Aherne148 that's a good idea " SKEGNESS GOT TALENT "
The band stand area behind the compass is a bit of a dead area and one or two buskers there would draw the crowds ?
