I took a little video Saturday night too.

I am a real novice, but you have to start somewhere.

Thanks for that video, its clear to me that those who followed the event down from the excite got the most enjoyment out of the event, the video shows how the story gathered pace as the various charactors in the story joined to gether to reveal the plot.

Many gathered around the clock tower just like they did for past parades but truthully this was not just a parade and those stationed near or at the end of the show around the clock tower didnt get the full picture. You really needed to follow the event along to really appreciate what was unfolding.

It still remained I believe a great spectacle and it was interesting to not from the video just how deep the crowd was along the route, I was looking at a video taken of the old style swithon in 2008 which was done by Jane Mcdonald in one shot taken from the pavement opposite the pier it clearly shows the crowd being only one row deep, James Gilbert as said that they viewed the event afterwards on CCTV and they estimated the crowd along the walk to be around 16,000.

I thought Saturday night's parade was brilliant, just the kind of different idea Skegness needed. Who'd have thought a few years ago we'd be in the streets watching huge sea creatures float above our heads?

The pavement art was very eye-catching too, and the fireworks were certainly something that everyone could enjoy.

ELDC have found a winning formula now in my opinion, and I would love to see more of this kind of stuff in Skegness.

I haven't a lot to offer visually, but I did take a few on my phone...

The tower changed colour and the change of colour especial the purple rose up the tower.. did you notice also that the clock faces were a different color..nice effect.

Yeah but is that for the illumintions, or was it just for the SO event?

Anyone found out what that random projection on Lucky Strike was all about?

it was reflection from the shiny VANMAN t/shirt lettering

At a guess some kind of moving portrait type idea? The sky was a bit grey in the projection, which gave it a kind of 'old' look, so I wonder if it was designed to visually tie in with the recordings that were playing in the shelters on the foreshore.

They were projections of films shot of the birds at Gibraltar Point as far as I have been told. Thought they were great and worked really well. i actually filmed some of them. Someone filming a film? Not natural!!!!

It just seemed a bit random to me, thats all.

All in all, I think this years event was much better than last years, though I did prefer the Saturday night event in 2009. But the whole 4 day event in general was much better. Bring on SO 2011!

Maybe I missed something but I was just watching Look North and someone on it said this was something to do with the London Olympic ???
What part was that ? Beats me ???

The only thing I can think of is that they are building up the festival to be at there best by 2012 the year of the Olympics. Next year I am told Lincolnshire will be the county to highlight the olympics in some way but not sure how this works

Just recieved a thank you email from ELDC as I was part of the volunteer team.

The email was very upbeat and clearly they were very happy at the way the festival went. It went on to say that on the friday the person who is responsible for organising the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony was in skegness to observe the start of the festival and he was really impressed with what he had seen, So much so that he purposely missed is train back to Nottingham so that he could watch the evenings performance and recieved a lift back to Nottingham later that night at 11pm.
